Vitamin C infusion therapy

Why should you try high-dose vitamin C infusions?

The human body needs higher doses of this valuable vitamin if it is under stress or during a period of weakened immunity – then a sufficient concentration of vitamin C can be achieved by direct administration into the blood, when a single dose of 7.5 grams by infusion reaches plasma vitamin C levels of 2.38 grams. It is a therapeutic dose equal to the consumption of about 15 kilograms of oranges.

At a dose of 0.75 – 1.75 g/kg body weight, the infused vitamin C has prooxidative effects – it acts as a non-toxic chemotherapeutic that has no side effects. Vitamin C is a cofactor that helps activate and normalize the functions of the immune system, thereby affecting inflammation.

Vitamin C is a powerful antioxidant, protecting cells from free radicals. It is important for the proper functioning of the immune system, but also for the formation of connective tissue and the recovery of collagen, while removing harmful substances from the body. It also has a role in controlling cholesterol in the body, it is involved in lowering histamine levels. Its activity in our body is still the subject of research today.

Vitamin C levels are not determined in routine biochemical tests. However, many studies point to reduced blood levels in healthy people and much more in sick people, especially in chronic diseases. Its daily intake in the diet is insufficient with the widespread use of semi-finished products and fast food. Vitamin C is important for the proper functioning of the immune system, any acute infectious disease increases the demands on its intake. Its increased intake is also needed for chronic infectious diseases, but also for non-infectious chronic diseases such as arthritis, indigestion, and surgical procedures.

With an increased need for vitamin C, its supplementation with a normal diet is impossible, not only for reduced appetite in acute infectious diseases, but also for limited absorption – vitamin C is absorbed in the small intestine using special transport molecules that carry it into the blood, but the number of these molecules is limited, so only part of the vitamin C is transferred to the blood – either from food or in the form of tablets. The fact that vitamin C is soluble in water and our body cannot build up its reserves also contributes to the lack of vitamin C not only in acute infectious diseases.

A human being is one of the few living organisms that has lost the ability to produce vitamin C during evolution. We are completely dependent on his dietary intake.

The optimal level of vitamin C in the body according to the DGE (Deutsche Gesellschaft für Ernährung – German Nutrition Society) is 1.1-1.2 mg/dcl of blood, the minimum for maintaining health is 0.9 mg/dcl. in chronic diseases, a reduced average level of vitamin C has been found – for example 0.6 mg/dcl in patients with diabetes, 0.53 mg/dcl in osteoporosis, but up to 0.11 mg/dcl in acute infectious diseases, traumatic conditions, burns. This indicates its high need for acute diseases as well as increased need and reduced intake for chronic diseases.

Infusion of vitamin C allows rapid vitamin supplementation and access to the vitamin of each cell of the body by temporarily creating an excess of it in the body.

It is recommended if you suffer from:
